Potential Research Topic

I would like to do my research on the complexity of legal documents and terminology. If I decide to go with this topic, I would use the critical theory method with a postmodern goal. I'm curious to discover if the intricacy of legal documents is truly needed, or if there's a hidden purpose to disenfranchise groups of people.
